Toddler

18 Months - 24 Months

In the toddler class, children aged 1 to 2 years are given opportunities to develop practical life skills, social interactions, and early language abilities. The environment is scaled to their size, allowing toddlers to move freely and choose activities that interest them. Practical life exercises, such as pouring, sweeping, and dressing, help toddlers refine their motor skills and build confidence in their abilities. Language development is supported through songs, stories, and conversations, fostering early communication skills. Social interaction is encouraged through group activities and play, helping toddlers learn to share, take turns, and develop empathy.

The Twos

2 - 3 Years

The 2-year-old class serves as a transitional stage where children continue to refine their practical life skills while beginning to engage in more structured activities. At this age, children are eager to assert their independence and often show a strong interest in self-care tasks, such as toileting, dressing, and feeding themselves. The Montessori environment provides a range of materials that promote fine motor skills, such as puzzles, building blocks, and art supplies. Language development is a key focus, with activities designed to expand vocabulary and encourage expressive language. Social skills are further developed through collaborative play and group activities, fostering a sense of community and cooperation.

Infants

6 Weeks - 12 Months

The infant stage in Montessori education, also known as the "Nido" environment, focuses on creating a secure and nurturing space for babies aged 6 weeks to 12 months. This environment encourages sensory exploration and motor development, with soft mats for crawling, mirrors for visual stimulation, and a variety of textures and objects for infants to touch and manipulate. Caregivers provide a stable and loving presence, helping infants develop trust and emotional security. Activities are designed to support the infant’s natural drive for movement and independence, laying the foundation for future learning.

Primary

3 - 5 Years

This classroom is divided into areas that focus on practical life, sensorial activities, language, mathematics, and cultural studies. Children work with hands-on materials that allow them to explore and understand complex concepts at their own pace. Practical Life is a vital part of the 3-5 Montessori classroom, helping children develop order, concentration, Independence, and refining their fine motor skills and control. Sensorial materials enhance their senses and prepare them for abstract thinking. Language, math, and culture are a focal point for the more advanced Montessori child and are integral to their learning experience. Cultural studies introduce children to geography, science, art, and music, fostering a broad understanding of the world and their place in it.
